![Disco Balls & Dolly's Sax: 2014 Festival Season in Numbers [Infographic]](https://www.idcband.com/pub/media/wordpress/b924dda0db6ed3677fc531da3d6a4aca.jpg)
As the 2014 festival season came to a resounding end, it was only natural (and very British of us) to immediately look back, review it and pretty much harp-on about how amazing a year it has been for live music events around the world.
I have no time to read this stuff, just show me the infographic.
Dolly Parton's debut Glastonbury performance went down as one of the most memorable in recent history. A set packed-full of hits (including a rendition of the Bennie Hill theme, played on a Saxophone) attracted a larger audience than both the Friday & Saturday headliners. Arctic Monkeys continued to dominate the headline slots across the country, bringing their AM tour to a triumphant close at Leeds, and Bestival gave us the worlds biggest ever disco ball, Guinness approved and all.
By our calculations (we like to think we have a decent barometer, after 20 years supplying them) there are over 800 festivals in the UK... probably even more. From the huge to the tiny, the tremendously commercial to the fiercely independent, the brand new to the legendary, from the boutique to the 'bar & stage', and everything in between - the UK festival industry is exciting, healthy and bigger than ever. And, there really is something for everyone, even fans of Asparagus! No, it's not a quirky band name, I am referring to the wee-colour-changing seasonal vegetable. Google 'Asparagus Festival'.
