Widely regarded as the world’s premier music industry awards bash, The 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards, last night saw over 1000 of its guests experience RFID technology courtesy of AXS, its parent company AEG, Outbox Technology and RFID laminate badge suppliers ID&C.
Held prior to the 57th GRAMMY Awards live telecast, at the Staples Centre in L.A, the AEG-hosted VIP Reception issued each of its 1200 guests with an RFID-enabled laminate badge and lanyard pack.
Granting ‘contactless’ entry to the pre and post-telecast receptions via RFID systems developed by L.A.-based Outbox Technology, the high-tech badges also featured instructions to download the official AXS.com VIP Reception mobile app, allowing guests to unlock exclusive pre-party content and GRAMMYs show information.
Each RFID badge was delivered to its recipient in an ID&C-designed presentation pack. The packs, which also contained a custom lanyard and official 57th GRAMMY Awards show ticket, were designed exclusively for AEG.
ID&C’s head of RFID, Steve Daly commented, “When thinking of prestigious music business events, The GRAMMYs are about as big as they come. We’re honoured to have supplied our products for such an iconic event and delighted to have worked alongside AEG and its partners to deliver an exciting RFID solution to some of the music industry elite.”
UK-born singer/songwriter Sam Smith was the stand out winner on the evening winning four Awards. The British artist was the only musician to sell over 1 million albums in the UK and US in 2014.
